How do I create a dance floor or general admission area?

How general admission works

Guests buy admission to one shared area without selecting a numbered seat. In this example, capacity is 100. After three tickets are sold, 97 remain if there are no other sales or holds. A buyer does not need to purchase all 100 tickets.

1. Draw an Area

Choose Rectangular Area on an empty chart and drag the dance floor rectangle. Switch to Select and select the area. A ticketed zone must be an Area: the separate Rectangle tool creates a decorative shape and does not serve this purpose.

2. Assign a category

Open Manage, create Dance Floor and select it in the area’s Category field. The area will use the category color. You will use this category when setting up event tickets.

3. Set the label and capacity

Enter Dance Floor in Area labeling and choose a readable font size. In Capacity, keep General Admission and enter 100. This is the shared capacity of the whole area, not a chair count or the quantity a customer must buy.

4. Add a stage and inspect the chart

Place a decorative rectangle above the area and label it Stage. The summary should still show 100 places, and the ticketed area must have a label and category. In Preview, click the dance floor and check its name, category and position relative to the stage.

5. Configure the event

Wait for the chart to save, sync it and use it in an event. Set a price for Dance Floor and test the buyer journey, including ticket quantity selection. The editor’s Preview checks chart objects and does not replace testing the purchase page.

Why does my rectangle have no ticket capacity?

Check the object type. A decorative Rectangle is just a drawing. Use Rectangular Area with General Admission, an assigned category and the intended Capacity.
